Non-Competition with Private Industry

Located in the Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health at the University of Arizona and funded by the state tax on tobacco products, the Arizona Smokers’ Helpline (ASHLine) has been helping people quit tobacco since 1995. We offer telephone and web-based tobacco-related quit services as well as training and technical assistance to healthcare providers and community partners statewide.

The ASHLine is a public service entity well-positioned to contribute to ongoing tobacco control efforts by providing evidence-based support to individuals in their effort to end tobacco use.

ASHLine operationalizes services by merging teaching, research and service with the goal of reducing the burden of tobacco-related disease statewide. Because ASHLine offers undergraduate student training, internships, and research opportunities for MPH and doctoral students, we are expanding the student experience beyond the classroom with invaluable experiential opportunities that make our students work force ready. In addition, our internships, Continuing Education Units (CEUs), and trainings through interdisciplinary collaborations, deeply engage the students in their education, integrating knowledge with real-world experiences.
